Are you brand new to cycling? Does the word “presta” sound more like a toddler mispronouncing “pasta” to you than a bike part? Or perhaps you’re returning to the saddle after a long time away and want to refresh your skills in a safe and controlled environment? Then this is the class for you!
Our Road Skills:: Basics coaching will help you make the transition from
just looking at your bike in the garage to getting out there and riding it with confidence.
We begin with Bike 101, an introduction to the beautiful, two-wheeled machine that you will be riding. We make sure you know where some of the important stuff is on the bike, what it’s for, and how to do the most important of all bike repairs: the flat tire fix. Then, we review basic bike fit, gear, nutrition, and cycling safety concepts, and rules of the road.
From there we move on to the skills portion and teach you proper shifting, braking, weight distribution, low speed cornering, and descending with control. We will end with an easy group ride along dedicated bike lanes and bike paths to give you a chance to practice your skills.
